An exhibition celebrating the beautifully vibrant drawing community in London. A network full of ambitious and talented characters, meeting regularly to advance their art or experience, bringing a valuable contribution to culture in the capital.

IMPORTANT : Any submissions that do not comply with the terms may be automatically cancelled. Fees are non-refundable.
The exhibition will run for two and a half weeks and will be held at XYZ Gallery, a community cultural space in Camden and, is open to any artists currently attending Life drawing in London.
Aside from adhering to a few basic rules there are no specific criteria for being selected to take part however, we’d love to attract high quality creative works therefore please choose carefully.
A non-refundable entry submission fee of £4 is payable before any submission will be accepted. This covers admin costs such as setting up the website and submission process. A further non-refundable artwork submission fee of £11 is charged per artwork accepted into the show. Any artworks not accepted will not incur a fee.
Drawing workshops
There will be several life drawing sessions in the evenings as well as an all-day portrait-club held at the venue whilst the exhibition is running. These events are open to the public however SPACES ARE STRICTLY LIMITED and bookings for Life Drawing must be made in advance. Use the buttons opposite to secure a spot.
Life drawing will be £10 for any artists taking part in the exhibition, or £15 for general public. Upon successful submission artists will receive a voucher code with which to receive their 33% discount.
The portrait-club is FREE with a discretionary donation. Participants will be expected to sit for the group as well as draw. If you wish to book in advance you must make a donation. We suggest a £5 minimum.

Terms and Conditions
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY. FAILURE TO COMPLY CAUSES INCONVENIENCE AND DELAYS AND MAY RESULT IN YOUR SUBMISSION BEING VOID (FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE).
Acceptance of terms
Participation in this submission and exhibition assumes acceptance of the terms set out below.
Deadline for submissions
The submission form will be taken offline at midnight on 02.03.2025
The Exhibition
Selected artists will be invited to participate in the DRAWING HUMANS group exhibition at XYZ Gallery, in Central London, from 12 – 29 March 2025. The exhibition is organised by LIVING ART in association with XYZ.
Fees
A non-refundable entry submission fee of £4 is payable before any submission will be accepted. This covers admin costs such as setting up the marketing for open-call, website build and creating and managing the submission process.
For selected artists, a further non-refundable artwork submission fee of £11 is charged per artwork accepted into the show. Any artworks not accepted will not incur a fee. This covers the general costs of printing, marketing, hardware and materials, painting the gallery etc. Following any successful submission, artists will be sent a link to pay their total artwork fee – this payment will complete the entry process.
Payments will appear as ‘Twentythird’.
No submission will be deemed successful until an entry submission fee and artwork submission fee has been paid in full.
Who can submit work
The exhibition is open to all individual artists based in London aged 18+.
What can be submitted
2D artworks made using analogue materials at any London life drawing session during the last 3 years, OR reasonable derivatives thereof. Please note that all final works must be 2D and figurative in nature and should NOT have been featured in previous Drawing Humans exhibitions.
Reference images Intellectual Property and Copyright
All works must be owned by their respective artists and be the Intellectual Property of the artist, or displayed with the consent of any other relevant creators, and free from copyright issues. Work must be created from a life drawing session and must not be created from reference imagery.
How many works can be submitted
Up to 5 works. Selections will primarily be based on the amount of space available vs. number of total artworks, while trying to include as many artists as possible. For example 5x A3-sized artworks have a better chance than 5x A1-sized artworks.
Naming digital files for submission
THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT PLEASE PAY ATTENTION – GETTING THIS WRONG DELAYS THE SUBMISSION PROCESS – YOU MUST CHANGE THE NAMES OF YOUR FILES TO MATCH THE NAMING CONVENTION BELOW EXACTLY
It is essential that your files are named in the following way, replacing ‘yourfullname’ with the first and last name as per your submission form :
artwork-1-yourfullname.jpg, artwork-2-yourfullname.jpg, artwork-3-yourfullname.jpg
Size limit
The maximum size for artworks including frame is 150cm x 100cm (sides) x 10cm (depth). If your work is oversized please contact Alexander via drawinghumans@livingart.23rd.co.uk to discuss. Note that very large works may restrict how many artworks per artist we can accept, depending of number of responses. For example 5x A3-sized artworks have a better chance than 5x A1-sized artworks.
Weight limit
There is no weight limit as such however, we suggest as light as possible for ease of hanging. Any works that are too heavy to handle risk being omitted.
Photographing work for submission
IMPORTANT : THE IMAGES YOU SUBMIT WILL BE USED TO ADVERTISE YOUR WORK, THEY MUST BE GOOD RESOLUTION AND MUST LOOK PROFESSIONAL
Only well-lit high-resolution photos of your work will be accepted. If photos do not match original work it may be excluded.
Please ensure your photos:
- are well and evenly lit
- include no shadows or glare
- are cropped to the edge of the paper or media
- are in jpg format no larger than 3mb
- do not include a frame
- do not include any added digital marks or writing
Selling artworks
It is not a requirement that artworks be for sale. Any artworks that are to be sold are priced and sold at the discretion of the artist. All artworks are sold framed unless specified otherwise. All sales will be processed via the gallery (XYZ) and subject to a 10% administration fee plus any related transaction fees. In the event of any sales artists must be prepared to provide bank details in order to accept payment from the gallery.
Shortlist
All successful submissions will be notified by email by midnight on 04.03.25.
Delivery of physical works
All works to be delivered on Sunday 09.03.25 between 10:00 and 17:00 to 5 Grays Inn Road, London, WC1X 8PH.
All works will preferably be framed. All frames must be suitable for wall hanging and should include strong and suitable hardware to make hanging simple. Any works that are not prepared in this respect will not be hung. PLEASE KEEP IT PROFESSIONAL – NO BITS OF STRING TAPED TO THE BACK OF PICTURES! If you require bespoke hanging please contact Alexander via drawinghumans@livingart.23rd.co.uk to discuss.
Upon delivery all packaging must be removed by the artist. Please note that no packaging will be retained at the gallery.
All artworks must be accompanied by a printed valid submission email.
All artworks must be clearly marked on the back with your NAME and SUBMISSION ID.
Collection of physical works
All works to be collected on Sunday 29.03.25 between 18:00 and 21:00. Please note that artists will be responsible for repackaging their work using their own materials.
Invigilation
While not everyone will be required to invigilate, all participants will be expected to be available for at least one FULL DAY of invigilation during the course of the exhibition. Exact schedule to be confirmed with individuals.
Marketing
It is a requirement of participation that you assist with marketing the exhibition. It’s intended as a community event and is geared toward the artist receiving exposure and retaining as much financial gain as possible from any sales. A lot of work goes into the organisation of an event such as this one therefore, it’s much appreciated if you can spread the word as much as possible and ensure you are following all relevant social media accounts etc. Full information, instructions and marketing materials will be sent to you via email.
Privacy Policy
Collection of personal data
Personal data such as name, email address, and phone number will be retained for the purpose of submission to, and organisation of the exhibition. Please contact us via drawinghumans@livingart.23rd.co.uk to discuss any concerns regarding your data.
Use of personal data
Your name and images may be used now and in the future for the purposes of marketing or, as a record of, the exhibition.
Cookies

Liability
‘The Organisers’ are LIVING ART and XYZ.
‘The Activity’ is the DRAWING HUMANS EXHIBITION
By participation in this submission and exhibition you agree to release any liability of The Organisers as per the following:
- Release and forever discharge The Organisers and their affiliates, successors and assigns, officers, employees, representatives, partners, agents and anyone claiming through them (collectively, the “Released Parties”), in their individual and/or corporate capacities from causes of action of any nature and kind, known or unknown, which you may have against The Organisers or any Released Parties arising out of or relating to any injury, loss or damage to person and property that may be sustained as a result of participation in The Activity (“Claims”).
- Understand that participation in The Activity involves inherent risks, including but not limited to risk of damage or loss of property, and you assume all related risks and voluntarily participate in the Activity.
- Agree to indemnify The Organisers against any and all claims, actions, lawsuits, damages and judgments, including legal fees, arising out of or relating to my participation in The Activity.
- This Release for Participation in The Activity (“Release”) shall not be in any way construed as an admission by the The Organisers that it has acted wrongfully with respect to you or any other person, that it admits liability or responsibility at any time for any purpose, or that you have any rights whatsoever against the The Organisers.
- This Release shall be binding upon the parties and their respective heirs, administrators, personal representatives, executors, successors and assigns. You agree you have the authority to release the Claims and have not assigned or transferred any Claims to any other party. The provisions of this Release are severable. If any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable, it shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. This Release constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes any prior oral or written agreements or understandings between the parties concerning the subject matter of this Release. This Release may not be altered, amended or modified, except by a written document signed by both parties. The terms of this Release shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the UK.
- You fully understand all the provisions of this Release and you are freely, knowingly and voluntarily entering into this Release.
- All fees are non-refundable.
